UPchieve empowered me and other volunteers to tutor students struggling with school. During my freshman year I found this site on my school’s list of volunteer opportunities. Tutoring requires tons of patience and many times will not feel worth it. However, breaking through to student and seeing them understand a concept that took many tries to comprehend kept me teaching. I thoroughly enjoyed talking to students and teaching them various math subjects. The role placed tremendous responsibility on me (as I was in charge of students’ learning journeys) and the importance of patience.
